Pastor’s Corner: “In Jesus Name”
Philippians 2:9-11 (NLT) – 9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
If you want to rise up spiritually, you need to hang out with people who will inspire you to higher expectations and help you reach them. If you want a better job, you hang out with the experts in the field, not with unmotivated, unfocused people. If you want to see God move supernaturally in your life, you hang out with people who believe in God’s power.
If our lives lack power, it’s not because God is no longer powerful. Have we begun to underestimate God? Here’s a question for each of us: Do I believe that God can use me and his church to demonstrate His power today? Let’s remember that if the preaching of the gospel is not accompanied by the power of God, it has no lasting impact in the lives of those who exercise or receive it. And if there is no evidence of God’s transforming power in the lives of Christians, why should the world care about or even be interested in Christ?
Romans 10:13 (NLT) – 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS. The question is: what are we doing with it? Having knowledge of the power in the name and not using it is like having weapons and not utilizing them. Too many Christians have put a lid on God, expecting little from Him because they don’t know the power of His name. The apostles, Peter and John, gave the lame beggar at the gate, Beautiful, something more valuable than silver or gold. Acts 3:4-6 (NLT) – 4 Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. 6 But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”
Did you know that one of the enemy’s strategies is to muzzle the mouth of the believer so that we cannot talk about Jesus? The enemy doesn’t mind us having a church as long as we don’t preach Jesus. When you mention the name Jesus, the enemy does not see you but the one who destroyed him in his own very domain. That’s why there is so much power when you mention Jesus. So what are you doing with His name? God is faithful to His Son and His name. You can expect great things from HIS GREAT NAME!
In His Grace,
Pastor Hamilton
